MUSIC LESSONS

Youth who participate in music programs have demonstrated increased self-confidence, self-esteem and creative problem-solving skills.  Studies have shown that the study of music improves the way students apply themselves in academic settings, resulting in higher grades.  AAMI offers performing groups, a diverse curriculum in jazz and classical music, sacred and gospel music, hip hop, recording art and music history.  AAMI helps both young and adult students realize their talents through a curriculum that analyzes the components of different styles of the African American music tradition.  

Each student is assessed in person so that each can be assigned the right teaching artist.
