Jazz Lab is a special component of the AAMI curriculum. The ensemble consists of students from AAMI who excel on their particular instrument. The ensemble provides performance opportunities for youth who have studied instruction in composition, improvisation, basic theory, chart reading and ear training.
Students accepted to the PJOYouth Future All-Stars receive an extensive musical education starting at a young age. Tuition is $10 a month for 30 weeks.
Our award winning show-piece. Auditions are open to all young males, starting at the age of eight. They are expected to display intense energy and a strong desire to sing and perform. Moreover, there must be strong parental or guardian support.
For two wonderful weeks, your child can immerse themselves music! During each fun-filled day, youth benefit from instruction in Music Fundamentals, Improvisation, Voice, Keyboards and African Drumming & Dance. This two week session culminates in a performance. Space is limited. Registration does fill quickly.
Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra and AAMI are looking for the area's most accomplished young Jazz musicians to participate in the PJOYouth Band, a big-band style performance group, run by Mike Tomaro and James Moore.
